West Sutton 44 Rylands 6 WEST Sutton stay at the top of the North West Counties League Division Two following this convincing trumph.
Defiant defence by Rylands kept the home side at bay in the opening stages, but once they had taken the lead with a solo try by S. Barr, the floodgates seemed to open. Further touchdowns followed from W. Johnson, S. McNamara, C. Simms and P. Ward, with M. Leyland converting all five to give them a 30-0 interval lead.
Rylands started strongly after the break and opened their account with a converted try by their scrum-half.
But West Sutton regained the initiative and finished the stronger, adding tries through A. Wilburn, S. Barr and P. Ward.
In a good, all-round team performance, the winners were particularly well served by C. Simms, A. Wilburn and P. Ward.
