YOU'VE heard loads about it, you've read a lot more and you may have actually seen a few pictures of it - now it's time to walk it.
Years in the pipeline and the subject of a millions of pounds of Lottery cash, the Irwell Sculpture Trail is nearing completion with the full 30 mile route, with sculptures at regular intervals, running from the scenic Rossendale Valley through Bury and to the inner city of Salford.
Now those wishing to walk off the Christmas and New Year excesses and get a change of scenery can take themselves for a wander around the sculpture pieces already in place at Bury, Irwell Vale and Rossendale.
The full guide not only includes the location of the pieces, but also information on the travel options available and useful phone numbers to find out public transport times as well as the location of car parking.
IST co-ordinator Cathy Newbery said: "The Irwell Sculpture Trail is being developed in clusters so visitors can spend a few hours, or a full day, discovering the area and enjoying nearby attractions.
"The section covered by the new guide, 'On the Trail', runs from Bury to Waterfoot. There is a real variety of pieces already in place and they all add that extra piece of interest even for people who would never consider themselves art lovers."
The guide is available from the Bury Tourist Information Centre in Market Street, Bury, or its counterpart in Rossendale at Kay Street, Rawtenstall.
