Halton Simms Cross 22 Pilkington Recs 10 THIS was a spirited Recs effort against an over-physical Simms Cross side.
The first half was one to forget for a makeshift Recs side who struggled for cohesion, resulting in a string of errors.
From such mistakes the home side crossed for four tries to romp into a 22-nil interval lead.
But after the game, Recs took the game by the scruff of the neck.
Centre Jeff Albin, one of seven players making his first team debut, was switched into the second row and he proved an inspiration.
And midway through the half a good, long pass from St Helens Roofing man of the match Anthony Marsh saw centre Ste Traverse crash over.
Recs were unfortunate not top add further scores as Graham Cranney, Jason Ledger, Colin Feenan and John Meadows all went close.
But the try of the match came when Ste Traverse went 40 yards before touching down near the posts, giving Marsh a simple conversion.
Players in form for Recs included Jamie Hill, John Meadows, Peter Cahalin and Jeff Albin.
