THE Mayor, Cllr Ken Pye, opened the new Wigan and Leigh Hospice on Tuesday. The £2 million hospice, in Kildare Street, Hindley, opened its doors after moving from their old home of 13 years, the former St James' Vicarage in Poolstock Lane, Wigan.
And though the official opening won't happen until the New Year, this week's event was the end of a rainbow for General Manager Stuart Liptrot who first set his sights on a new, purpose built hospice several years ago.
Cllr Pye said he was "delighted" at the ultra-modern facilities offered in the new hospice.
