HERE'S a man who knows he's in for a white Christmas - Private Simon Fegan, serving with the NATO stabilisation force in snowy Bosnia.
Sending his greetings home, Simon says: "Merry Christmas to my wife Sarah and my children Naomi and Abby. Also my nephew and everyone who knows me back in Burnley."
Simon, 27, is with 21 Support Squadron, The Royal Logistics Corps, who form part of Britain's 5,000-strong contingent in Bosnia.
Their task is to oversee the ceasefire, protect separation zones and ensure freedom of movement for civilian agencies.
He is responsible for getting troops' personal mail to them at the time of year when letters from home are most important.
Simon is a Habergham High School old boy and his parents, Douglas and June, live in Burnley. Since joining up in 1988, Simon has baked bread in the Falklands, worked as a silver service waiter on Ascension Island and manned a mobile hospital laundry in Croatia.
"As part of a support squadron my role changes wherever I go," he said. "The most enjoyable so far was when I was silver service waiting. It's not the sort of thing people expect you to do as a soldier.
