I AM so very desperate.
My husband has prostate cancer, and bone cancer and I have been trying for months to get the council to instal a stairlift to help him get upstairs.
I recently had another phone call from them saying that the board - whoever they are - have turned the application down again.
The Social Services say I could have one if the board approves. It is all a matter of who pays for it. I can't afford to buy one myself or I would.
It is breaking my heart every time I have to push my husband upstairs when I know how much pain he is going through.
It takes his breath away with the effort he has to put into every step he takes. I only have a living room and a kitchen downstairs and I haven't the room to put a bed in. The toilet and bathroom are upstairs. He is in constant pain, without the added pain of struggling up and down stairs.
I wonder if any readers know of a way I can get a stairlift put in, because I just don't know where to turn to any more.
Please help me if you can. I don't know how much longer my husband has to live.
He is 68 now, but I do want to make what ever time he has left to be as pain-free as possible. I am sure there must be someone who can help.
