MOTORISTS diced with death after a busy by-pass was reduced to an early morning skid pan.
Drivers were caught out by the frost which later turned to black ice on the Accrington easterly by-pass between Huncoat and Rising Bridge.
Police recorded eight smashes and saw evidence of another four in the space of two and a half hours from 6.40am.
