Paisley Pirates 11 Lancashire Hawks 4 ; Lancashire Hawks 2 Telford Tigers 6
LANCASHIRE Hawks have recruited Arena old boy Ian Plews - and more new faces could soon follow.
Young forward Plews re-signed in time to ice the Christmas Cup last night, but the boost of a new arrival was offset by back-to-back defeats over the weekend.
Plews, 21, left the Arena a couple of seasons ago and has since been a squad player with Paisley and, more recently, with Fife.
Manager Mike Cockayne says: "We have been searching long and hard for several weeks and it is good to get a result. Ian will offer us another option, but we still need at least one more new body to bolster the squad.
"We have just embarked on six-games in a 10-day spell and that sort of fixture programme will test us to the limit"
Hawks were swamped by the Pirates on Saturday, but put up a gallant show on home ice last night against a talented Telford team. In Scotland the game was won and lost in the first period. Trailing after just 36 seconds, Hawks did roar back to level through Mike Pynonnen, but by the time Adrian Lomonaco added a second the home side had rushed in to score a further six times.os=6l=6.5f=Zurich Bd BToos=6l=6.5f=Zurich Bd BTo
