IREAD with interest the article and letter by the mother of the police officer involved in the unfortunate incident with the stripper (LET, December 17). She has every right to be proud of her son.
What is the Chief Constable of Lancashire thinking of sacking Detective Constable Joseph Scanlan? He had a bravery award and an otherwise excellent career.
Our bobbies have to face thugs with knives day in and day out. They have every right to let their hair down once in a while.
I saw the 'World in Action' programme about this incident and saw it for what it was - our fine bobbies letting off steam.
I think it is disgusting that just before Christmas this policeman is suddenly left in the dole queue.
I call upon the Chief Constable of Lancashire to show some Christmas spirit and give him his job back straight away.
If I had a burglar in my house, I would rely on DC Scanlan to catch him rather than a politically correct 'namby pamby,' which the police service seems to be turning into!
