REGARDING the situation of the poor woman in 'A desperate plea for help' (Letters, December 19), what sort of god-forsaken country are we living in? For Goodness sake give the woman the darn stair lift. Did you read her letter, Bishop? Not much hope there.
To the Mayor of Blackburn I say: "Do without your fancy car for a few weeks and put the money saved towards this stair lift."
If any other reader cares about this, write! Fill a night's Telegraph with letters. Write to your MP, write to your councillors and Harriet Harman, until somebody, anybody, somewhere takes notice.
It amazes me the number of people who just sit back and do nothing. Please, please get writing.
SAM SPENCE, Ribblesdale Place, Blackburn.
