Mark Templeton Surfs the Net
SWITCH on your lava lamp and dig out your flares to take a groovy trip back to the 70s over the Internet.
The revival of that particular decade is well and truly rocking all over the web.
There are some excellent sites which bring back fond memories of bad haircuts, bad clothes and, erm, bad music!
One of the best is Dee T's 70s page which features a lot of the kitsch TV shows, cartoons and even commercials. (Remember Coke's I'd Like To Teach The World to Sing?)
There are video and sound clips to download and my favourite is the theme tune to that fantastic series I watched avidly every Sunday afternoon - The Love Boat.
No nostalgic look back at the 70s would be complete without those fab tunes that were around.
So it's well worth checking out (man!) Discoland. A tacky 70s disco complete with glitterball. Here you'll find the words to all those records like Stayin Alive and you can download tunes from a list of the top 100 disco songs of the decade.
So chill out tune in and drop out....or whatever it was people used to do!

Yule see a big change
IT'S been an interesting year for net users.
Although still not taken seriously, I'm pretty sure in 1998 it will be seen as a media to contend with.
This year has seen more and more people go online. There have been historic moments linked to the Internet, notably a judge's decision to announce his verdict over the web on Cheshire au pair Louise Woodward during her murder case.
And there's always something new or more impressive cropping up every week. Ben Knox, head of respected ISP Direct Connection, has predicted a new millennium in which Christmas cards are a thing of the past.
"Over the past three years we have noticed an increase in Internet traffic of about 20% in the two weeks leading up to Christmas.

Quake and aftershock
AN unofficial, but very professional looking web site aimed at players and buyers of the new Quake 2 game from ID Software is released this week.
If anyone has been on an alien planet for the last year and doesn't know what the first Quake was, here is where to find out.
There's a great deal of other information about the new game too.

History that never was
HISTORIES that never were often provide fun for fiction freaks.
Ever wondered what the history of the Daleks was?
Or the order of events in Twin Peaks? Or what the Ferris Bueller's Day Off time problem is? Here is where you will find out. Amusing and involving.
