THE shadow of a grim 1993 hung over East Lancashire at the end of a year which saw 100 jobs a week lost.
A total of 5,600 jobs vanished in 1992 as industry crumbled under the recession.
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph's survey of redundancy announcements showed the worst slump in the area since the war.
