STAFF at an award-winning charity shop are toasting the prospect of a prosperous New Year.
The Barnardo's shop in Yorkshire Street, Burnley, beat off competition from 320 other Barnardo's stores across the country to win an award for boosting sales in 1997.
Now workers are hoping for similar success in 1998 and branch retail manager Margaret Pilling dressed up to welcome the New Year in in style. "We had a very good year and we raised a toast for 1998 in the hope we can enjoy another," said Margaret.
"We'd also like to wish all our customers and staff a Happy New Year."
