A TEENAGER has undergone surgery after being stabbed in the neck.
The sixteen year-old from Earby is recovering in Burnley General Hospital where his condition is described as comfortable.
The youth had just parted from friends as he left McDonald's restaurant in St James Street, Burnley, at about 9pm on Monday when a youth aged about 18 lunged and stabbed him in the neck.
Police are appealing for information about the attacker, believed to be 5ft 10ins tall and slim. He was wearing a white sports top and blue trousers.
Police are studying CCTV and want anyone with information to contact Burnley CID on 01282-425001.
They are also appealing for information about a wounding in Colne Road, Burnley, at about 8.30pm on Boxing Day when a 22-year-old man was attacked by a gang of four. He has had an operation on a fractured cheek bone and is recovering in Burnley General Hospital.
