MAJOR East Lancashire road schemes were being shelved because of Government cash cuts.
The cuts meant the start of work on the £3,628,000 Blackburn Eastern Radial Route and the £1,136,000 Accrington town centre relief road were certain to be put back a year. The 1988 start on the Chorley bypass also hung in the balance.
