YOUNG musicians are to honour a talented colleague who was killed in a horrific car crash.
Casey Fetigan, 17, of Montague Road, Burnley, played double bass with the East Lancashire Youth Orchestra.
The teenager died at the wheel of her E-reg Fiat Uno car when it careered off a moorland road and ended up on its roof in the early hours of Sunday.
She suffered fatal head and neck injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fellow members of the orchestra were said by conductor Nigel Wilkinson to be deeply shocked.
She joined the orchestra five years ago and was a "cheerful and popular girl," he said.
Speaking from St Hilda's RC High School in Burnley, where he is head of music, he said there would almost certainly be some sort of personal gesture by the 60-strong orchestra in remembrance of the dead girl.
"Casey was a cheerful and popular girl. There will certainly be some sort of personal gesture, such as an award in her memory or a special concert, but it is too early to say exactly what.
"She was a very good bass player and a very reliable member of the orchestra.
"She took pleasure in her music and was very keen. She will be sadly missed by us all," he said.
He said pupils at St Hilda's, where Casey was a former pupil, were saying prayers for the dead girl's family.
