CITIZEN football correspondent and Red Rose 999 commentator Tom Parker has led the tributes to Preston's newest knight - football legend Sir Tom Finney.
In an article in this week's North Ender programme (Sat Jan 10) he talks of the day Finney walked into Deepdale as a young apprentice.
He recalls how everyone soon came to know him as a classy winger who was loved by everyone including top Italian club Palermo who tried to buy him.
Tom talks of the difficulties defenders had in stopping Finney and adds his own congratulations to the Preston Plumber.
And he makes one small suggestion and that's when the scaffolding is erected to add the 'Sir' to the Tom Finney Stand maybe they could make a further adjustment and call it - the Sir Tom Finney Stadium. And so say all of us...
