UNDER-PRESSURE Preston manager Gary Peters has held on to his job with the backing of North End bosses.

A section of the Deepdale faithful called for the troubled boss to be sacked but at a crisis meeting he was backed by chairman Bryan Gray.

He felt it was important to have continuity at the club and a new appointment could make matters worse.

North End Chief Executive Peter Church said: "Mr Gray met with Gary and everyone's cards were put on the table. Gary was given the vote of confidence by the chairman."

Preston supporters from miles away will get the chance to grill Mr Church at a unique question and answers session next week.

The Southern Supporters club have arranged the special event to coincide with the away game at Watford on Jan 17.

Mr Church will meet the fans before the match in a London pub and there will also be a raffle for a shirt signed by Sean Gregan.
