BURNLEY folk who held influence in the town in their generation are featured in a new exhibition at Towneley Hall.
Who Was Who in Burnley spotlights the life and times of more than 20 former notables of the 19th and early 20th century - industrialists, educationalists, benefactors, and those who influenced the Towneley museum collections over the years.
Featured are Wilfrid Dean and one of the early washing machines he manufactured in Burnley before his firm grew into the once powerful Burco Dean group.
Mr Dean was also chairman of the museum committee.
Also included is Tattersall Wilkinson, astronomer, local historian and character at the turn of the century, known as "The Sage of Roggerham".
Electrical engineer William T. Taylor is another who helped build the museum collections, with exhibits he brought back to his home town from his globe-trotting exploits.
The exhibition coincides with a recent booklet on Who Was Who in Burnley, published by Burnley Historical Society.
The Towneley display runs from Sunday to March 8.
