WELL-known Atherton woman Nora Wilson, 85, died on New Year's Day.
She was the widow of the late Guy S Wilson, an Atherton insurance broker and former England Rugby Union international who played for Tyldesley and Manchester.
A founder member of Atherton Inner Wheel Club, Mrs Wilson became secretary and president and was made a honorary member in 1990. She was also a member of Atherton WI.
During the war she drove a supply van and was keenly interested in amateur dramatics and Test cricket.
Her son, John, who ran a sausage manufacturing business in Atherton, died in 1986, leaving a wife Pauline, a son and a daughter.
The funeral is tomorrow (Friday) at Overdale.
