A MAN was today being questioned by Burnley police about attacks on two elderly women.
The arrested man, who is in his thirties, was being interviewed by detectives investigating a street bag snatch and an aggravated burglary in which two women pensioners were injured.
An 87-year-old woman fell and broke her shoulder when her shopping bag was snatched from her grasp as she was walking in Leyland Road, Burnley, eight days ago.
In an earlier incident, a 75-year-old widow who weighs only four and a half stone, suffered extensive bruising when she was attacked in her own home in nearby Albert Street.
Her head was banged against a door frame and the floor before she was covered in a bed quilt.
Reports about the incidents and a third attack on New Year's Day morning in which a virtually blind man was attacked in his home in Leyland Road prompted a big response.
