SHOPKEEPERS in Blackburn demanded tougher sentences for robbers in a letter to Home Secretary Kenneth Clarke.
The calls for action came after more than 30 armed raids took place in the area over three months. Blackburn and District Chamber of Trade president Doreen Byrne said: "We need law and order, and we feel that the punishments robbers receive are not stiff enough."
