OUR Story Search reading scheme is proving a big hit with pupils in the Upper Junior class at Heathland College, Accrington.
The scheme, designed by our Newspapers in Education department, delivers our newspaper into the classroom for any three-week period and gives pupils 45 newspaper reading tasks to complete in a booklet for each child.
As an added incentive, pupils are rewarded for their efforts with free gifts of useful writing equipment.
And at the same time they gain valuable information on a huge range of topics covering many school subjects.
Class teacher Mrs Hughlock said that she was delighted with pupils' response to the scheme and would be using the material as part of a broader look at the topic of communication.

Reviews book school prizes
KEEN young readers at St Barnabas CE Primary School, Darwen, have had remarkable success in a competition connected with books.
Following the publication of their book reviews in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, pupils in year 4 at the school were encouraged to enter a competition on the Internet.
Their teacher, Mr Dean, had found the competition in which children had to answer 10 questions about books and think of a slogan.
And two weeks later they were very surprised to receive an e-mail with the news that there was a first prizewinner and two runners-up in the class.
Marc Pemberton won £50 worth of books and two runners-up, Sophie Lovelace and Latthew Eastham (all aged nine) received a book each. They were all very pleased.
