A DELEGATION from Poland is spending four days in East Lancashire to learn about urban regeneration.
Delegates are visiting Burnley Council, East Lancashire Partnership, Enterprise plc, Pendle Council, Preston Council and Lancashire County Council.
Poland hopes to become a member of the European Union after 1999 and will be eligible for grants for economic development, community development, tourism, infrastructure, business support and training.
The delegates visited urban regeneration projects in Burnley including Network 65 Business Park, East Lancashire into Employment, Training and Education Access Point and Queen Street Mill.
They also called in at the Burnley Business Centre, the town centre and the CCTV control room.
Burnley Council leader Kath Reade said: "It is pleasing that Burnley was chosen as an example of best practice in urban regeneration initiatives.''
At the end of the week the visitors will travel to London to meet members of the European Parliament Office and representatives of the Local Government Association.
