STUDENTS from a Burnley high school are looking forward to hearing a performance by the Halle orchestra and meeting the musicians.
Ivy Bank High School has been linked with the acclaimed orchestra for two years as part of the TSB bank sponsored First Movement Scheme which brings professional musicians into schools.
Head of music Andrew Williams said he was delighted when the school was accepted last year, especially as places were limited, and again when he applied this year.
He plans to apply again next year in hopes of making it a hat-trick.
Hall violinist Helen Bridges, who lives in Padiham, held workshops with the students both years.
The workshops involved studying and understanding a piece of music which students will hear tomorrow when they go to the Halle's new home the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.
Mr Williams said: "Helen has been working with 28 students in year seven to give them an insight into how music is put together.
"On Thursday, 17 of us will go to see the Hall and during the interval the students will be taken backstage to meet the musicians.
"The tickets for the concert are at a reduced price and the workshops at the school are free."
