IN reply to Mr Wilcock's interesting letter. May I say that I do understand his worries about nuclear power plants and the great difficulties engineers have in disposing with the spent fuel in an environmentally-safe way.
But wind farms will never produce enough energy to allow even one nuclear or conventional power station to be shut down.
The development proposed for Darwen will only produce as much electricity in one year as the Drax power station can produce in eight hours.
There are many alternatives to building a wind farm, including reducing energy consumption, cleaning up existing fossil fuel stations and encouraging the use of solar power.
If Mr Wilcock thinks 250 feet towers look nice, that is his opinion, but to say that I, and others like me, are living in the past is not true. We are looking towards the future.
