LIBERAL MP David Alton was preparing to do an 11th-hour deal to save his Abortion Amendment Bill, by compromising on the time limit in which abortions were allowed.
Mr Alton said he would contemplate excluding handicapped babies, and might compromise on his proposed 18-week time limit. East Lancashire MP's were divided on the bill, with three supporting the bill, and three, including Peter Pike and Jack Straw, voting against.
