LEIGH RMI extended their unbeaten run to nine with a 2-2 midweek draw at rainswept Altrincham.
But lacklustre Leigh had to fight back from towo down for a share of the points.
When Danny McGoona hit Altrincham's second on 50 minutes there looked no way back for RMI.
But the introduction of sub Martin James in midfield changed the game.
In the 67th minute he curled in a quality cross for Chris Shaw to head home.
And with 10 minutes remaining James combined with Dave Ridings before Phil Brown hit the equaliser.
RMI manager Steve Waywell said: "Phil's was a tremendous strike, but I am disappointed we have given another side two goals start.
"We have to begin to believe in ourselves. And, although a point away from home is satisfactory, I'm disappointed not to get the full lot. I think we can compete and beat the likes of Altrincham.
"The long lay-off didn't help us as we looked ring-rusty; our midfield was unbalanced, but we showed battling qualities to come back as we did."
