POLICE investigating the murder of Newton car dealer John Haselden are appealing for a man to come forward whom they believe may have some information.
At around 11.40pm on the day of the murder - Monday, December 1 - the man was seen jogging along Stoney Lane, Whiston in the direction of Rainhill on the hospital side of the road. As he neared the Accident and Emergency entrance, he was seen to stumble and almost fall over.
Minutes earlier, John Haselden was driven to the hospital's Maternity Unit in his own blue Ford Escort Cabriolet and left in the car park. He later died of a gunshot wound to the head.
The man who drove Haselden's car to the hospital was then spotted driving away in a white-coloured saloon car, either an XR3i or a GTE, which travelled at speed along Stoney Lane and turned into Cumber Lane.
Police are now appealing for the occupants of this car to come forward and would also like to speak to the jogger who may have spotted the car. He was described as being white and dressed in an Everton FC away strip which was yellow and blue.
IF you have information you can contact the hot-line on 0151 777 6253 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. All calls will be treated in the strictest confidence.
