STAGE hypnotists could soon get their act together in Bury again if a three-year ban on performances in the borough is lifted.
Mr John Birchall, administrator of the Federation of Ethical Stage Hypnotists, wants Bury Council to scrap its decision to prohibit hypnotism acts in premises licensed by the authority.
Fears participants might suffer long-term harm prompted Bury councillors to impose the ban.
Later, a Home Office review of the Hypnotism Act concluded there was no evidence of serious risk to participants in stage hypnotism and any risk was much less significant than those involved in many other activities.
In November, the local authority's licensing committee recommended lifting the ban.
However, the issue will now go forward to a full meeting of Bury Council later this month to allow all councillors the opportunity to take part in the debate.
