Bamber Bridge 14 Bold Miners 20 REVENGE was sweet for Bold as they beat Bamber Bridge, the side who had broken the Miners' unbeaten run earlier in the season.
Bamber Bridge started the stronger, running in two converted tries in the opening 10 minutes.
But the continuing fine form of Darren Anders looked capable of creating a try but relentless defence from the home time denied the Miners on numerous occasions.
The strong running of Chris Keane, Nick Joseph and Alan Hockenhall finally brought about points for Bold. They stretched Bamber Bridge to the limit and allowed Darren Anders to put Steve Prole through a gap to score near the posts. Darren Anders duly converted.
After a great team try came a great individual try, Chris Anders eluding four defenders for a superb touchdown. The Darren Anders conversion levelled the scores providing a half time score of 12-12.
Ill discipline from the Bold side provided Bamber Bridge with an easy two points in the opening minute of the second period before player coach Wayne Graham sidestepped his way over the line to give the Miners the lead for the first time.
Strength and persistence allowed Ricky Mayer to complete the Bold scoring as he dragged five defenders toward the ground for the four-pointer.
In a brilliant team performance, Nick Joseph narrowly beat off Mark Saunders and Lee Meyer for the Grundy Excavations man of the match award.
