Higginshaw nil Haydock 23 HAYDOCK produced an impressive display to complete a double over their Oldham rivals.
They always looked the better team in muddy conditions and went close to scoring in the opening 15 minutes through full-back Tither and prop Scott.
But the Yickers didn't have to wait too long. On 17 minutes Haughey edged them in front with a penalty.
Haydock continued to play good rugby and they went further ahead from a set move when Newton sent Scott scurrying over from 20 yards.
Green, Fearnley, Bradshaw, Bloor were all making good ground for Haydock. And they went further ahead when stand-off Haughey launched an up-and-under Abbott followed up to touch down.
A drop goal by Newton gave Haydock an 11-nil interval lead.
In the second half Higginshaw enjoyed the greater share of possession and they bombarded the Haydock line.
However, Haydock produced a great defensive effort to hold them at bay.
And then they produced one of their best tries of the season.
It came from Tither and started inside the Yickers' 25 line. Good passing from O'Garra, Frodsham, Haughey and Bloor saw the ball reach substitute prop Barton on the half way line.
Barton slipped out a peach of a ball to Lowe and he made 20 yards before releasing Tither for a super touchdown.
Haughey converted from under the sticks.
Higginshaw continued to attack but Haydock finished strongly when Bloor collected Haughey's chip to run 30 yards to the line. Haughey converted.
Outstanding for Haydock were Tither, Bloor, O'Garra, Haughey and Green.
