POLICE are launching a new initiative to target the increasing number of burglaries around some parts of St Helens.
Operation Lancet has been drawn up by DS Don Gordon from the St Helens Police Burglary Squad and will target areas in Sutton, Clinkham Wood, Kiln Lane and the Wargrave estate in Newton where burglaries have been steadily increasing.
In the next few weeks, a greater police presence will be deployed around these areas in a bid to catch offenders and bring them before the courts.
POLICE are now appealing for people to help themselves by making sure their home is as secure as possible. In addition, if anyone has information about a burglary, they can contact the Burglary Squad at St Helens Police Station on 0151 777 6876 where they will be treated in the strictest confidence.
