EDUCATION watchdogs have praised a school for providing top class teaching.
An Ofsted report highlighted the high standard of teaching at West End County Primary School, Oswaldtwistle.
The standards squad's report said: "Teachers were dedicated, caring, committed and planned their lessons very well.
"Very good or good teaching was noted in eight out of 10 lessons seen."
The four-strong inspection team found the school's overall standard had improved.
Most pupils were making good progress and, at times, attainment levels often exceeded national expectations.
Other aspects of the school to come in for praise were the good behaviour and attitudes of the pupils, as well as the good relationship between pupils and staff.
Headteacher Janet Aspinall impressed the inspectors with her strong leadership and management skill.
The report said: "The school has a long tradition of providing a good education and the headteacher has a clear idea of how the school could build on this good base and further improve.
"Her purposeful leadership had already led to improvements within the school."
Several recommendations were made to further improve education at the 215-pupil school, including raising youngsters' attainment in information technology and improvements in the curriculum.
Chairman of the governors Marian Barrett said: "I am delighted by the many positive remarks contained in our good Ofsted report which is a credit to staff, pupils, parents and governors.
"We take great pride in our school and set ourselves high standards and the recommendations in the report to develop some aspects of the curriculum will be acted upon."
