REGARDING your 'Opinion' (LET, January 19) concerning the contemplation by Blackburn Council of closing the Lewis Textile Museum to save £10,000, or to use it for still more council offices, my wife and I are appalled at the thought of this happening.
The museum is of such historical and educational importance, and part of our beloved town's heritage.
Your Opinion well reminded us all of the errors of the 1960s, when so many of our lovely buildings were flattened to make way for the concrete monstrosities we have today. Where were the men of vision?
Further civic vandalism must stop. We trust that your timely reminder will bring the Council to its senses.
