ELECTRICAL chain Tandy has confirmed it is closing two of its East Lancashire stores with the loss of around six jobs.
The firm said that the loss-making Blackburn and Nelson branches would shut as part of a nationwide closure programme of 69 of its 338 stores.
In total 230 jobs are being affected by the closures, but the firm said up to 70 staff could be redeployed elsewhere in the group. Andrew Fryatt, managing director of Tandy UK, said a number of steps had been taken to improve the performance of the loss-making stores.
"But we have been forced to conclude that there is no prospect of a return to profitability in these locations."
The company's Burnley and Accrington branches are unaffected by the closures.
