AN ANGRY mother today slammed youths who shot her son in a drive-by airgun attack.
The woman was horrified to hear that her 14-year-old son had become the second victim of a gang who were firing pellets at teenagers.
The attack happened at 10pm on Friday as the boy, who lives in the Mill Hill area, stood with friends outside the entrance to Witton Park, Preston Old Road, Blackburn.
About five people in a dark coloured car pulled up.
The teenager heard something ricochet off a railing and felt blood trickling down his leg.
The mother said: "I couldn't believe it when he told me what happened.
"These idiots could have seriously injured him if the pellet had hit his face rather than his leg."
She said the jeans he was wearing made the injury less serious than it could have been.
Police are appealing for information about the culprits, who are thought to have carried out a similar attack the previous night.
A 15-year-old boy was also shot in the leg as he walked along Lower Hollin Bank Street, Blackburn.
The car involved is thought to be a G-registered black Ford Escort with green stripes down the side.
Anyone with information can ring the police on 01254 51212.
