A LACK of policemen and decent lighting were to blame for East Lancashire folk being too scared to go out after dark, claimed Burnley MP Peter Pike.

The Labour MP told the Commons: "There are a lot of women and elderly people throughout East Lancashire who are now too frightened to go out in the dark. We need better street lighting and more police on the streets."
