WHAT right has Blackburn Council to destroy the Lewis Textile Museum which was gifted to the people of the town for their benefit, not that of councillors? The reason proffered - saving £10,000 - is nothing if you compare it with the expenses councillors lavished on themselves recently.
Why do they need additional office space? If it's so essential, there is an abundance empty around the town. What about all the space that is to become available as the county council moves staff out of Blackburn?
Yet, why is it needed at all? Cannot the council get with it and be ready for the 21st Century - by allowing large sections of the administration to work from home? The savings would be phenomenal and beneficial to the town, if only through giving other people the chance to park their cars.
