FOLLOWING your articles about the closure of the Lewis Textile Museum in Blackburn, it raises the issue of luxuries, necessities and priorities.
It is about time the Labour Party on a national, regional and local level took some serious responsible decisions in the interest of community development.
Museums and heritage centres play an important role. Nevertheless, we have other more serious areas to look for consideration. We have serious housing and environmental problems to solve, rather than worrying about places of luxury and entertainment.
If people are concerned about keeping the museum open, why can't they take the responsibility of running it under privatisation?
Let's set an admission fee and see how many enthusiastic and loyal visitors visit the museum then.
