BREAKTHROUGH Breast Cancer has now fulfilled its initial goal of raising £15 million to establish the UK's first breast cancer research centre.
Launched in 1991, the charity has inspired major companies to raise millions and at the same time encouraged small groups and individuals to take up the Breakthrough £1,000 challenge.
Locally, we have raised £30,000 for Breakthrough in six years, and I would like to thank the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, parishioners and clergy of St Silas's parish centre, Blackburn, and the many friends and supporters who made our magnificent total possible.
Phase Two of our appeal now begins. To fund research projects, our crusade must continue, and I am appealing to schools, colleges, businesses, shops, groups, pubs and clubs to join in the fight for a cure for breast cancer.
Please contact me for more information on 01254 262324, or Breakthrough's headquarters on 0171 405 5111.
