I WAS greatly upset to read your articles (LET, January 19 and 20) about transfer of the Lewis Textile Museum for council offices.
My memory took me back to the day the museum was officially opened and several juniors from Ida Shaw's School of Drama dressed up in Victorian dress and manned the museum.
We tried our hands at hand-loom weaving and various other tasks and generally entertained the visitors.
We were very fond of T B Lewis, because he wrote plays for us to perform at Samlesbury Hall, generally about cotton moguls like Suddell and Harrison, who really put Blackburn on the map.
We always understood that Mr Lewis had given the museum building to the town for perpetuity, and I know the various schools visit it to learn about the cotton that made us famous throughout the world.
Nothing has been decided yet about the fate of the museum, but I hope they come up with a better solution than those of the council officers.
