A robber was foiled by a 48-year-old Morecambe woman who refused to give in to his attempts to grab her bag.

The woman was approached from behind by the man in an alleyway who twice demanded she hand over her shoulder bag. She refused and tried to walk away but the man grabbed her bag which fell to the floor. The robber demanded cash again, but the woman once more refused and made her escape.

The attack took place at an alleyway near Morrisons in Morecambe off Kilnbank Avenue between 8.40am and 9.45am on Tuesday morning.

Police are looking for a male 5ft 10ins or 5ft 11ins white male. He was wearing a dark coloured anorak with the hood up, sunglasses, a tartan scarf covering the lower part of his face and dark coloured jeans and trainers. Anyone with any information should call the police on 01524 63333.
