WE are a group of residents from the Marsh area and we wish to publicly thank the adhesives company Ultramark for agreeing to reconsider their recent planning application for expansion of their factory. Although we were strongly opposed to the planning application because we value the area of land in question, we have nothing against Ultramark as a company. Indeed, we know that they have made considerable efforts to run their factory in an environmentally friendly manner. We have also heard reports from workers that Ultramark is a good employer. We are glad that Ultramark has taken the concerns of residents into account and we very much hope that an amiable solution can be found to the factory expansion plans. In particular, we would support any plans for expansion within the current boundaries of the Lune Industrial Estate.
