A FASHION firm has scooped a top award by turning on the style.
Caprice Apparel of Blackburn won £1,000 in the regional 'Making the Difference' awards.
The awards, sponsored by the DTI and Shell UK, are aimed at companies which have worked with Business Link to improve their firm's prospects.
Two years ago the firm, which produces ladies and childrenswear, introduced a cell system of manufacturing to enable to it to cope with larger runs and win new orders. Caprice Apparel also worked with Business East Lancashire to secure a £39,000 Regional Selective Assistance grant and for help from ELTEC for the design a new product brochure.
The firm's Business Link adviser, Tim Bullough, also encouraged the company to use outside consultants to advise on its future growth.
"Caprice Apparel demonstrates that innovation in adopting new process can be applied successfully to businesses which are not normally associated with a willingness to change," said Mr Bullough.
Managing director at the firm, Mubarak Ismail, now plans to introduce a sportswear section to the company.
