A COMPANY has been fined £8,000 for polluting a stream with waste in the latest case to be brought by the Environment Agency.
Land Feeds Environmental, of Ribblesdale Place, Preston, pleaded guilty to two charges of polluting Shaw Brook at Tockholes and one of treating controlled waste without a licence.
On Friday (Jan 9) Blackburn magistrates heard how on two occasions in December 4, 1996, after reports from members of the public agency officers found the brook frothy and blood-red coloured.
After investigation it came to light that the driver of a tractor in a nearby field, Oliver Dewhurst, worked for Land Feeds Environmental.
