A £4 BILLION deal to sell Tornado aircraft to Saudi Arabia saved thousands of Lancashire jobs.

The news of the deal, clinched by Prime Minister John Major in a visit to King Fahd, was welcomed by workers at British Aerospace's Samlesbury and Warton sites. But union chief Ron Ralph said it was the efforts of Lancashire workers which had helped secure the deal as well as Mr Major's talks.
