LOWTON'S Brian Kenny is feeling champion! He has just won the Daily Express Matchplay Golf Championship.
Brian, a Wimpey Homes production director, has been a member of Haydock Park Golf Club for more than a quarter of a century. And he needed all his experience to win first the Cheshire heat and then the national title.
The climax of the competition came at the Mijas Golf Club in sun-baked Puerto Banus in Southern Spain. He said: "I am absolutely thrilled to have won such a prestigious tournament.
"The quality of the golf was excellent, right through each stage of the competition.
"And for me to have walked away as champion is just a dream come true."
Brian is now looking forward to a hard winter on course, preparing to defend his title.
