LEIGH RU were below-par in their defeat against Egremont, Tony Murray bagging a brace of tries.
Minis & Juniors: U16s beat Newton 46-5 with tries from MoM Hartley 3, Devall 2, Wood and Fitzmartin; U12s beat Vale of Lune 14-7, Ashbrooke scoring two tries; U11s drew 12-12 with Wilmslow, Vernel scoring two tries, Boardman converting one, but they lost 19-7 at Vale of Lune, Crompton getting the TD; U10s lost 54-10 against Wilmslow, Thomas Leake and John Wood getting the tries; U9s lost 20-0 to Wilmslow.
TYLDESLEY RU moved into third spot after a thrilling 15-13 win at Ashton Under-Lyne. They began well, Dave Sivill scoring an early TD, Brown converting then adding a penalty.
Tyldesley dominated the first half but failed to turn pressure into points, squandering numerous chances before Edge grabbed a second try.
In a tense second period the home side edged ever closer and had the chance to win the game on a late penalty, the ball sailing inches wide.
On Saturday (2.30pm) Tyldesley face Keswick.
