STRANGE as it may seem, when you read this I'll be sunning myself in Tenerife! Yes, the rain and wind got too much for me so I donned the shorts and shades and headed off to the sun. This was probably a good idea as it seems the only place that you can escape from Oasis and ex-Stone Roses singer, Ian Brown both of whom have taken the charts by storm this week.

On the subject of hits, here are this week's three wannabies:

Space - 'The Ballad Of Tom Jones'

This is going to be the second single off the forthcoming album 'Tin Planet' which is out in March. Not quite as good as 'Avenging Angels' but still a quality song. 'The Ballad Of Tom Jones' will definitely be another top ten hit for the Scousers. It seems like the time they spent resting has done them no harm at all - a great song from a great local band.

Celine Dion - 'My Heart Will Go On'

One of the big films of the year will be Titanic and this dodgy single is the love theme from the film. If you like Celine Dion then you'll love this single but you will get the feeling that you've heard it a million times before! Yet another boring ballad that's become her trademark.

Duke - 'So In Love With You'

You just can't keep a good tune down. This was originally a hit a couple of years ago and still gets played in almost every club you go to. Due to all the re-issues that are around at the moment, Duke have obviously decided it's time to unleash this classic song once more. Out on February 9, this classy dance tune with new mixes is bound to be a big chart hit again but hopefully won't open the floodgates for even more re-releases.

NOW for this week's give-away which is something a little bit different. You've probably heard all the talk about the new film 'Boogie Nights' which stars Marky Mark. The film is getting rave reviews by everyone who goes to see it and we've got THREE copies of the soundtrack to give away. As disco is back in fashion, the album contains some classics from the 70's including the likes of: Marvin Gaye, The Commodores and McFadden and Whitehead.

To win a copy just answer the following question and send your answer on a postcard, together with your name, address and daytime telephone number to Zoe Garton, St Helens Star, Duke Street, St Helens, Merseyside, WA10 2HZ. Closing date is Thursday, February 5.

Question: Who had a hit with the song 'Boogie Nights' in 1977.

Was it: a) Kool and The Gang, b) Shakatak, c) Heatwave

Usual Star rules apply.
